While you are reviewing your data in any of the sections, this menu is constantly available for quick linking to the other sections. Follow these links to uncover in-depth analysis of each metric.

SUMMARY DATA TABLE

The Summary Data displays relevant data and calculations for each section. MotionBased performs micro-analysis of each segment of your course to calculate these results. Refer to the Activity Dashboard section for more information about how each calculation is made.

CHART WINDOW

The Chart Window displays relevant data for each section in one chart. The link to this "super chart" may be found at the bottom of the Summary Data Chart.

View one of three types of charts. Below the Chart Window is the Chart Options Panel. For each chart there are different options to choose from. For more information about the precise charts and their options, go to the Dashboard Metrics section.

a. Profile Chart ? This chart plots the change of the metric values across distance or time. Imagine you slice an apple. If you remove a slice of apple and hold it to the light, you can analyze that slice clearly without the rest of the apple obstructing your view. Similarly, a profile is a slice of your Activity, with all other information removed. When you look at a profile, like the Elevation Profile for example, you are looking at ONLY THE ELEVATION VALUES, which are plotted against distance. This is easy to understand because you can remember all this hills in your Activity! Now try understanding the Speed Profile. It is merely a different slice of your Activity, in which ONLY THE SPEED VALUES are plotted against distance or time. Use this concept to analyze the rest of your profile charts.

In some sections there is more than one option for your profile. In the Speed section, for example, you can see the profile of your Speed or your Pace. In addition, a third layer is optional for some sections. You can usually choose to add either elevation or grade. Use this layer to find how your performance was affected by elevation or grade at certain points during your activity. See more about options in the Chart Options Panel.

b. Category Chart ? This chart divides the metric into categories or ranges on the horizontal axis, and plots this against either time or distance on the vertical axis. The speed metric, for example, has ranges 5mph up till the max speed. So the ranges are 0-5 mph, 5-10 mph, 10-15 mph, and so on. How high the bar goes refers to how much time or distance you spent in each category. Imagine this as a category bucket, the more time or distance you spend in a category, the more that bucket will be filled. In the example activity ?Miwok Loop?, if you look at the Category chart for Speed, you see that the bar which is the tallest is the category of 5 mph. This means that the most distance was traveled at or near 5 mph. See Chart Options for a list of all the options for Category Charts.

c. Vertical Division ? Only provided for the Time and Distance sections, this chart will divide your activity into 3 portions: i. Ascent ? This represents the portion of the metric that was performed on the ascents. Observe the Vertical Division Chart for Time in the ?Miwok Loop?. See that Ascent is the biggest portion of this chart. This means that you spent the most time of your activity climbing up ascents. ii. Descent ? This represents the portion of the metric that was performed on the descents. iii. Flat ? This represents the portion of the metric that was performed on the flats.

Go to the Dashboard Metrics section to find out more about the exact charts available for each section.

CHART OPTIONS PANEL

The Chart Options panel contains tools for changing the options for the chart. Generally, there are two main options tools. a. Plot Options ? which allow you to change the vertical and horizontal axis. b. Layer Options ? which allow you to add and remove layers.

What can I do? Click on an option to reveal or hide the layer in the Chart Window. Go to the Dashboard Metrics section to see the exact list of options available for each chart.

CHART PREVIEW

The Chart Preview contains thumbnail versions of each chart type available for the current section.

What can I do? Click on a thumbnail to view the enlarged chart in the Chart Window. Go to the Dashboard Metrics section to find out more about the exact charts available for each section.

If you are interested in exploring your geographical data more, the Map Player provides an interactive viewing, simulation, and editing tool for your activities.
