Every Second recording
From MB Wiki
Trackpoints are recorded every second.
When should you use "Every Second" recording? This is what Aaron has to say:
If we were talking about the Forerunner 301 I would tell you to turn 1 second tracking on (which is not possible) if you were doing a track run. However, the X05 series logs enough trackpoints where you would have to be pretty fast to outrun the accuracy of the auto resolution.
Velodrome cycling should use 1 second resolution . . . just be sure to reset between sessions and press stop if you are waiting for a period of time.
Downhill Mountain Biking, Dual Slalom or mountain cross would all be 1 second worthy.
Criteriums have many turns and could benefit from 1 second resolution. I know some criteriums may go beyond 1 hour so we'll deal with those exceptions as they present themselves.
Downhill skiing or snowboard racing. Notice not recreational, but competitive racers should use high res. The last thing you want to record is every second of the chairlift ride up.
Motorcycle or auto racing if you are on a grand prix style track, but oval racing is not second worthy. Stunt flying might benefit, but airplanes don't usually turn very quickly so I'd stick to Smart.
Notice everything is moving fairly fast, making sharp turns. For running I would say only the sprints where you run 10 yards and touch the line and return to the start, then 20 yards, etc (I forgot what they are called). Most other running events are handled just fine by the Smart resolution of the FR X05 series.
Also notice other personal metrics don't come into play. Your heart rate does not change quick enough to warrant high resolution. Cadence can change more rapidly, but honestly is anyone interested in cadence to that level of detail? Power could warrant the use of 1 second resolution and should we ever decide to support power we would prepare for that resolution.
I truly hope that helps you all understand when high resolution can help.
How do I change my device back to Smart Recoding?
Note: Every second recording is only available on new generation Garmin fitness devices (Forerunner X05, Edge X05)
