Pest Patrol

Pest Patrol is a program provided by Computer Associates that helps detect spyware on computers.

Two customers have reported that the MotionBased Agent has been flagged as a carrier of the WinWhatWhere spyware that records your computer keystrokes.

MotionBased would never implement such a strategy to violate anyone's privacy like that. The information we maintain for our customers is extremely sensitive and personal information so we take privacy very seriously.

On September 21, 2005 I downloaded Pest Patrol and scanned my entire machine which found no results of WinWhatWhere. Extra custom scans targeting all of the installation files and the Program Files directory also showed no matches of this spyware.

We distribute our Agent from Downloads.com and they inspect each file that is distributed and guarantee the absence of harmful programs.

I can only assume that either the versions of Pest Patrol that these customers use are incorrect in their diagnosis of WinWhatWhere or their computer is infected with the WinWhatWhere and it is somehow being related to the MotionBased Agent. All I know for sure is MotionBased did not distribute it.
