Adobe SVG Viewer

An application that must be installed in order to view interactive maps and charts. Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is a new graphics file format and Web development language we have used to build the Analyzer and Map Player sections of MotionBased. These features are data driven, interactive, and personalized.

MotionBased uses the Adobe SVG Viewer (http://www.adobe.com/svg) to display dynamic content much like you might see in Macromedia flash.

Unfortunately, the Adobe SVG Viewer only works in Internet Explorer. Neither the Analyzer not the Map Player work in Firefox or Safari. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this poses to our Mac users.

You must install (http://www.motionbased.com/support/download/view.mb?tile=support.download.svg) the Adobe SVG Viewer to view the Map Player, Analyzer and Dot Racing. The new Player which will implement all the functions of the Map Player, Analyzer and Dot Racing is currently in development and will work with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari.

MotionBased requires Version 3.0. You may check which version you have by visiting the Adobe SVG Test Page (http://www.adobe.com/svg/viewer/install/svgtest.html). Right click on it to bring up the drop down menu. Then select "About SVG Viewer" from the drop down menu. You should then see this:

About window

If you get an access denied message or something similar then you most likely have an old version of the SVG viewer.

You may install other Adobe products (like Photoshop or Acrobat). They may install an old version of the SVG Viewer and remove your newer version. Not a pleasant experience, we know, but if you have problems after installing another Adobe product consider a re-install.

If you are running a version less than 3.0 you need to upgrade to the latest version. That can be downloaded here: Download Page (http://www.motionbased.com/support/download/view.mb?tile=support.download.index)

Adobe SVG Viewer: End of Life

You may notice that Adobe will no longer support the SVG Viewer after 1 January 2008. How will that affect how you use MotionBased? Not much. The Map Player will soon be replaced with the Player, which does not need the SVG Viewer for viewing.
