United States time zones

From MB Wiki

The United states has one of the most complicated time zone scenarios of anywhere. Daylight savings time is a pain to deal with in general, but it would appear that many states have their reasons for not participating. Living in Arizona I understand why they would choose against extending the daylight in the summer. If you don't know what I mean then go there for a visit and it will soon become obvious.

MotionBased has assigned TimeZones at the State level. So any activity within a State that contains a single consistent time zone will always inherit that time zone.

The States that have multiple time zones have the time zones assigned at the county level. So the nearest location is associated to your activity and the county of that location will provide the Time Zone. If a county does not have a time zone associated to it then it will inherit the default time zone for the state.

At a later date we may start associating Time Zones specifically to populated places within a region, however, our Time Zone database is currently not detailed beyond the county level.

Changes to Daylight Savings

Extended Daylight savings is being implemented in 2007 to save energy. Read more... (http://www.timetemperature.com/tzus/daylight_saving_time_extended.shtml)
